National Indigenous Peoples Day is observed annually on June 21st as a time to recognize and celebrate the rich history, cultures, and contributions of our Indigenous community.
At Cameron Elementary, we are proud to acknowledge and honor the Indigenous peoples of this land through special events and learning opportunities for our students including:
Tuesday, June 17th – Storytelling with Kung Jaadee
Thanks to district funding support, we are delighted to welcome Kung Jaadee, a renowned Haida author and storyteller, who will be sharing Haida and Squamish stories, legends, and songs with our students. Her session includes a 45-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute Q&A for both primary and intermediate students.

Thursday, June 19th at 9:15 a.m. – Schoolwide Assembly
We will hold a short assembly to honor and acknowledge the Indigenous members of our school community. This will include contributions from Cameron students and families.
We are grateful for your ongoing support as we continue to build awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Indigenous cultures and histories.
